Croke Park is located in Dublin, Ireland is the home of the Gaelic Athletic Association. Despite its size and prevelance, Croke Park may be most famous for events that took place there in 1920. 14 people, including one player, were killed at a Gaelic football game by the Irish police. Ireland was fighting for independence from Britain during this time, and the day has now known as Bloody Sunday. U2 has immortalized the date in a song entitled "Sunday Bloody Sunday." To honor the events of Bloody Sunday, Croke Park is the home of a rugby match between Ireland and England every year years.

Croke Park has undergone several renovations to allow it to reach its current capacity. The first part of the reconstruction started in 1998 and continued until 2003 to make the stadium prepared for the Special Olympics. The capacity of Croke Park was increased from under 50,000 people to the over 82,000 person capacity the stadium currently holds.

Since Croke Park is the headquarters of the Gaelic Athletic Association, there are many people in Ireland that believe that the stadium should not be used for other events. They have now determined that Croke Park can hold any events that are not in competition with the Gaelic Athletic Association. This has allowed for the stadium to hold two football games and several concerts from iconic bands. U2, Tina Turner, Bon Jovi, Robbie Williams, Celine Dion, Neil Diamond, Take That and Westfall have all hosted large scale concerts in Croke Park. Croke Park was in contention to hold its first regular season NFL game, but lost the voting to Wembley Stadium in London, England.
