Donnybrook Rugby Ground Hotels
Donnybrook Rugby Ground is the original home of the Irish Rugby Football Union Leinster Branch. They are planning to expand the rugby ground from it's current seating capacity of 7,500 to a seating capacity of 12,500. This is the center where rivalry hits it's climax as teams collide in intense competition. This is one of Ireland's finest rugby facilities.
More About Donnybrook Rugby Ground
The Donnybrook Rugby Grounds are located in Dublin, Ireland and is the former home of the Leinster Rugby team. The stadium is located on the banks of the Doddle River. The Ireland A national rugby team and the Women's national rugby team still play their home games at the Donnybrook Rugby Grounds. Several rugby teams from local schools in Leinster also play games at the stadium. Donnybrook Rugby Grounds is also the home of two local rugby club teams, Old Wesley and Bective Rangers. The Leister Schools Senior and Junior Cups are two rugby tournaments for schools with premier rugby teams. Several games in each tournament are held at the Donnybrook Rugby Grounds in Dublin.
The Donnybrook Rugby Grounds has a maximum capacity of 6000 people, but only has 2500 seats available. The seats are in one grand stand on the west side of the grounds. Another grand stand of similar size was going to be constructed on the other side of the field, but was shot down due to local objections. Many people in the area found that the stand would have been too tall, and would cause too many problems down the road.
Despite losing its main tenant, the Leinster Rugby team, the Donnybrook Rugby Grounds is still one of the premiere rugby stadiums in Ireland. It features a rich tradition, and has great support from the local community. Any rugby fan in the area would easily be able find a great game at the Donnybrook Rugby Grounds.
Recent efforts have been put into place to use the Donnybrook Rugby Grounds for events other than rugby matches. This plan was successful in July of 2008, when the stadium booked a concert by Michael Buble. The Grammy Award winning singer from Canada performed a successful show to a sold out crowd. The success of the concert has opened the door to more great concerts coming to the Donnybrook Rugby Grounds in the near future.
